Leh :

Winter sports activities in UT Ladakh stand deferred for the next 3 weeks or till the trend of Covid-19 cases are on the declining side.

This was suggested during a winter sports activities meeting chaired by Ravinder Kumar, IAS, Administrative Secretary of Youth Services and Sports Department, UT Ladakh on January 6.

Discussion with all the Officers/officials and stakeholders was held to decide on the conduct of Winter Sports activities in UT Ladakh, keeping in view the rising numbers of Covid-19 cases in UT Ladakh and recent Covid-19 SOPs issued by the Government of India.

Director, Health and Medical Services apprised the Secretary that it would not be possible to maintain bio-bubble for the players and suggested deferring the conduct of any winter sports event.

The next meeting shall be held after 3 weeks to review the situation and feasibility of conducting any winter sports activities.
