Secretary Youth Services and Sports inspects various stadiums in Leh

Secretary Youth Services and Sport UT-Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar (IAS) took stock of the work in progress at various stadiums on August 8.

He enquired about the indoor complex constructed under (USIS) at Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) multipurpose stadium. Deadline was set for the early completion of remaining work. Construction progress of multipurpose playground, Gymnasium, and Archery ground were also discussed.

Concerned executing agency was directed to submit the detailed project report. Ravinder Kumar asked all the sports Associations to submit their suggestions to develop the sports centre.

While visiting the Ice hockey rink at NDS stadium, the Secretary was informed that the project cost would be increased due to expansion and adding of international standard facilities inside the rink. The rink will be completed at the cost of ₹ 22 crore which includes both civil works, roofing, and machinery. The executive engineer requested to release more funds for it.

Ravinder Kumar directed the concerned Executive Engineers to mature the tender process and early commencement of roofing and other remaining works with a target to finish in the next three months.

While taking stock of progress on several works being executed in the NDS stadium, the concerned executing agency was asked to accelerate the pace of work by further adding to the existing manpower and machinery so that all works get completed in time.

Secretary along with other concerned officers also visited the open stadium Spituk to assess the status of works. 

The executing agency apprised the Secretary about the facility and architectural design of the stadium. Nearly ₹ 10 crore was sanctioned under SDP for the construction of youth hostels and other remaining works.

Later, he visited the site of G+1hostels at Skara Yokma and also visited the mini-stadium for boxing, indoor stadium, and sports infrastructure developed at Officer's Club.

District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Tsering Tashi; DD Planning, Tsering Angdus; Ex-en R&B, Ghulam Nabi; Zonal Youth and Services officer, Abid Ali and other concerned officers were present.
