KCC wins NDA Memorial Cricket Tournament for 3 consecutive years

The 18th Nawang Dorjay Stobdan memorial T20 cricket tournament was organized by Tip Top Sports & Cultural Welfare Society on 7th June at NDS cricket ground, opposite Council Secretariat Leh. About 20 teams participated in the tournament.

The final match was played between Kashmir Cricket Club and Servo Taru Enterprises in which KCC defeated Servo Taru Enterprises by 13 runs in the final match. 

Rigzin Spalbar, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC was the chief guest and Tsewang Thinles, President Ladakh Buddhist Association was the guest of honor.

Earlier in the match KCC won the toss and choose to bat first. With the stunning performance of Manzoor Pandu, KCC was able to obtain 161 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.  Manzoor Pandu scored 77 runs in just 34 balls with the help of 10 sixes.

Manzoor of KCC, who scored 318 runs in the tournament, was selected as man of the tournament while Tsering of Servo Club with 18 wickets in the tournament from the purple cap.

In the NDS Archery Tournament, 16 teams participated in which Contractor Red won the final with 713 points followed by Tip Top as runners-up with 628 points. 

The winning team KCC was awarded trophy and a cash prize of ₹30,000 and the runner-up team Servo Taru Enterprises was also given a trophy and ₹ 20, 000 as a cash prize. 

Rigzin Spalbar appreciated the organizing committee for contributing the tournament in such sustainable methods to imbibe creative and positive way among the future generation. He also congratulated all the participants for their commendable performance.  
 
Focusing on Nawang, Dorjey and Stobdan's contribution for Ladakh, who laid down their lives during agitation fighting for UT in 1989, he also said that their contribution support Ladakh to get LAHDC, which is a stepping stone for us to fight for UT.
 
He also announced to name the newly developed sporting complex near Council Secretariat as 'Nawang Dorjay Stobdan Sporting Club' and expressed hope for early finishing of Ice Hockey Rink and Indoor Stadium.

In the beginning, TTSCWS President Sonam Jorgais informed about the purpose of organizing the tournament.  Nawang, Dorjey and Stobdan families were given a gift of appreciation.
