Focus on reviving lost Argon archery after a gap of 15 years

To revive the argon archery in Ladakh, Archery competition was organised by the organising committee of H.E Bakula’s birth centenary on May 20 at Polo ground, Leh. Thupstan Chhewang, MP the chief guest inaugurated the archery competition.
Morup Namgyal, Chairman Organising Committee said, “Argon archery is played by all the religions in Ladakh. It is believed in bringing happiness and religious harmony in the society. It is time to forget all the differences and to celebrate the new beginning of good relationship among communities".

“Revival of this tradition creates an opportunity to engage the youths in such activities to keep them away from other anti-social activities”, he added.

Tsewang Thinless, President, Ladakh Buddhist Association said, “The revival is important because it creates an opportunity to bring all the three religions of Ladakh at one platform, which is important to maintain a healthy relation between the communities.  We need to keep this tradition alive to make this relation stronger which was also one of the aims of H.E Bakula Rinpoche.”

Ashraf Ali Barcha, President Anjuman Islam said, “Bakula Rinpoche has always shown and taught us to maintain communal harmony in the society.  Argon archery is a legacy of Gyalsras Bakula and it is our duty to preserve and promote it. It creates communal harmony and trust among the people of different communities." 

Dr. Abdul Qayum, President Moin-ul-Islam said, “Earlier, this tradition was very famous but with time it loses its charm.  It is a great opportunity to revive this tradition on the occasion of H.E Bakula Rinpoche’s birth centenary.
 
Talking about the secular views of HE Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche he said, "His Eminence has always worked for the welfare of the society as a whole irrespective of religion and faith.”

Dechen Chamga, President Christian Community said, “Revival of such good tradition in today’s world is a need of the hour to strengthen the relationship between the people. "

All the three religious heads, the guest from Mongolia and other distinguished guest were present.
