CEC Leh flags off Ladakh Ice skating team for national championship

The UT-Ladakh Ice Speed and Figure Skating Team was ceremoniously flagged off by the CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, for the 20th National Ice Speed & Figure Skating Championship to be held from June 25 to 29 at the Himadri Ice Rink in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Led by International Coach Mohd Abbass Nordakh and Team Manager Waseem Akbar, the 14-member team features talented skaters from across Ladakh who have been making waves on the national stage.
Fresh from their stellar performances at the 4th and 5th Khelo India Winter Games, where they topped the medal tally, the team heads into the national championship with confidence and determination. To further hone their skills, the Ice Skating Association of India (ISAI) is conducting a five-day pre-event training camp.
Under the rigorous guidance of Coach Nordakh, the team has shown remarkable discipline and dedication, raising expectations for yet another strong showing on the national podium.
CEC Tashi Gyalson, along with Ladakh Ice Skating Association (LISA) General Secretary Tundop Namgial, parents, and supporters, extended their best wishes to the athletes. He expressed hope that the team would once again make Ladakh proud and serve as an inspiration for the youth of the region.
The team’s participation reflects Ladakh’s rising stature in national ice skating and serves as a powerful motivator for nurturing young talent in winter sports.
