In anticipation of the forthcoming visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Zanskar, In-charge Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mohd Hassan convened a high-level review meeting at the Tourist Dak Bungalow, Padum, on July 8 to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place well in advance.

During the meeting, various nodal officers were appointed to oversee specific responsibilities related to the visit. Officials from multiple departments of the Zanskar Sub-Division participated in detailed discussions to chalk out logistical plans for the smooth conduct of the visit.

SDM Hassan directed all concerned officers to submit their requisitions to higher authorities at the earliest to address any pending issues and avoid last-minute delays. He emphasized that comprehensive and timely preparations are crucial to ensure a respectful and well-organized welcome for His Holiness and the smooth execution of related events.

Paksang Lawang, President of the Zanskar Buddhist Association, highlighted the urgent need to construct additional toilet facilities for the large number of pilgrims expected to attend, particularly during the upcoming Summer Mega Symposium scheduled to be held at Karsha.

The SDM instructed all departments to work in close coordination to facilitate the seamless organization of both the Dalai Lama’s visit and the associated events, including the Yarchos Chenmo.

Further, nodal officers were tasked with ensuring proper accommodation and hospitality arrangements for VVIPs, dignitaries, and other guests.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Army (OC Army Camp Padum), GREF, Executive Engineers, Block Development Officers (BDOs), the President of the Zanskar Gonpa Association, and committee members of the Summer Mega Symposium.
