Youm-e-Ashura: Alamdar Health Service organises mega blood donation camp

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) attended the mega blood donation camp organised by Alamdar Health Service, Leh on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashura on July 29.

Alamdar Health Service, Leh is a health unit of Anjuman Imamia Leh Youth Wing.

Highlighting the significance of Youm-e-Ashura and the holding of the Blood Donation Camp, LG stated that both Youm-e-Ashura and the Blood Donation Camp are in consonance with each other. Remembering the shahadat (martyrdom) of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his 72 companions along with his family members at Karbala in 680 AD, LG stated that Hazrat Imam Hussain’s battle against Yazid was a fight against evil in which eventually the truth triumphed. Giving the example of the battle between Kauravas and Pandavas in Mahabharata and the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for India’s freedom from British colonial rule, LG stated that truth always prevails in the fight between good and evil.

Appreciating the noble work of Alamdar Health Service to provide blood to the needy, LG hoped for continued service from the organisation to save the lives of patients who are in dire need of blood.

He also distributed Certificates of Appreciation to the blood donors who have donated more than 10 pints of blood to the needy.

MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal appreciated the noble work of Alamdar Health Service and stated that Hazrat Imam Hussain, who was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, is held in high regard not only by Muslims but people from all religions. He emphasised the need to follow his teachings and eradicate social evils such as corruption from society.

President, Anjuman Imamia, Ashraf Ali Barcha informed that Alamdar Health Service has completed two decades of its selfless service to provide blood to the needy. He also informed that there would be no greater noble work than organising blood camps in the memory of Shahadat of Hazrat Imam Hussain.

Chairman, Alamdar Health Service, Leh, Dr Fida Hussain requested the Administration and MP Ladakh for infrastructure/land to establish an office to enable them to expand their service of providing blood to the patients.
