World Environment Day celebrated at Pangong Lake

In commemoration of Skyoba Jigsten Gonbo’s 800th Maha Parinirvana, World Environment Day was celebrated on June 5 at Pangong Lake.
 
The day was organised by ECSOL (Educational and Cultural Society of Lalok) in collaboration with Go Green Go Organic, Shachukul monastery and Ladakh Drayangs to create awareness about the importance to keep the environment clean and free from garbage.
 
JP Yadav, DIG ITBP Leh was the chief guest on the occasion. 

Recalling his memories of visiting Ladakh 15 years back, he said that Ladakh used to be very clean in the past which seems to be different today especially Pangong Lake. He assured that ITBP will follow proper garbage disposal in their camps and aware people about the importance of cleanliness.
 
Gen Stanzin Norboo, President ECSOL highlighted the importance of celebrating this day at Pangong Lake. 

Rigzin Namgyal, Vice Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School, Tharuk talked about the importance of Celebration of the World Environment Day. 
 
Paldan Tundup , ZEO Tangtse said that keeping the environment clean should not only confine for this day, it should be followed each and every day.  
 
The programme included a mix of knowledge and entertainment where the students had prepared speeches and skits highlighting environmental issues faced by the people at local, national and international level.
