Week-long summer carnival in Drass showcases Polo, Archery, and Cultural performances

The Summer Carnival–2025 in Drass celebrated the legacy of cultural sports and arts, providing a vibrant platform for youth engagement. Organized by the Indian Army, the week-long carnival was held from June 9 to 16 at the Polo Ground, Drass, showcasing the region’s rich traditions in both sport and culture.
The event featured an exciting lineup of traditional sports including Tent Pegging, Horse Polo, and Archery, with spirited participation from local boys and girls. These competitions captivated audiences with thrilling displays of skill, precision, and teamwork.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, students from Army Goodwill Schools in Drass, Kargil, and Farona performed enchanting folk dances, offering a visual treat of the region’s cultural richness. A hot air balloon display and para motor glider demonstrations by the Indian Army Adventure Team added a spectacular touch to the celebrations.
Beyond the festivities, the Summer Carnival served as a meaningful platform for civil-military interaction, strengthening bonds of trust and unity between the Indian Army and the local community. Set against the majestic backdrop of Drass’s mountains and meadows, the carnival was a celebration of joy, heritage, and shared spirit.
