WCBCL demands bird rescue, rehabilitation centre in Ladakh

Members of Wildlife Conservation and Birds Club of Ladakh/Birds Club, Leh met Lieutenant Governor, R K Mathur regarding various demand on December 8 at Raj Niwas.

They submitted a copy of a memorandum demanding bird rescue and rehabilitation centre in Ladakh, the inclusion of Ladakh Bird Festival in the Ladakh Tourism Calendar and to recognize Black-necked Crane as the state bird and Snow Leopard as the state animal of UT Ladakh.  

President Lobzang Vissudha and Secretary, Dorjey Daya of Wildlife Conservation and Birds Club of Ladakh/Birds Club, Leh informed about the existence of around 350 bird species in Ladakh which is 25% of the bird’s species in the Indian sub-continent. They spoke about the objectives and activities of their organization through a PowerPoint presentation.

The Lt. Governor appreciated WCBCL for their endeavours towards the conservation and promotion of birds and wildlife of Ladakh. He gave assurance to extend all possible support on part of the UT Administration.
