Vaccination for Hajj pilgrims 2026 begins in Kargil

The Hajj 2026 vaccination programme commenced on March 25 in Kargil district, covering various blocks including Sankoo, Taisuru, Drass, and Shakar Chiktan, among other areas. A total of 259 Hajj pilgrims, including two SHI pilgrims, were successfully vaccinated on the first day.

In Leh district, the vaccination programme is scheduled to be held on March 26 and 27, 2026, for 64 Hajj pilgrims at designated centres, including the CMO Office Leh, SDH Diskit, and PHC Chuchot.

The vaccination drive in Kargil was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, in the presence of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil, Kacho Layiqat Ali; Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kargil, Dr. Ab. Jalil; and District Vaccination Officer Kargil, Dr. Rabiya Banoo, along with other officials.

Also present on the occasion were Chairperson, Haj Committee UT Ladakh, Haji Mohd Ali Majaz, and Executive Officer, Haj Committee Ladakh, Zakir Hussain. On the occasion, Haji Mohd Ali Majaz warmly welcomed the Deputy Commissioner.

The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the Hajj pilgrims, extended his best wishes for their holy journey, and prayed for peace and prosperity in Ladakh and across the world. He also presented traditional khataks to the pilgrims as a gesture of goodwill and blessings.

The vaccination programme is being conducted smoothly across all designated centres in Kargil district.
