UT Administration forms Fact-Finding Committee to look into various issues of daily wagers

UT Administration formed the Fact-Finding Committee to discuss various issues related to the daily wagers.

Commissioner Secretary, General Administrative Department, Ladakh, Ajeet Kumar Sahu chaired the first meeting on the Fact-Finding Committee on September 30.

The committee will look into various issues of daily wagers especially determination of their actual numbers, nature of engagements, authority to engage, duration and status of payment of wages. Besides, the audit team constituted by the Finance Department would also be conducting an audit of offices where these daily wagers have been engaged.

The Committee deliberated on these modalities and timelines for completing the assignment and decided to collect factual information from the field offices in the first instance. The Committee has devised various formats and sought information from both the Deputy Commissioners before October 5, 2021.

The Committee also sought comments of DCs and HODs for the justification of engagement plan for utilization of the services of daily wagers and the training need etc. Furthermore, the Committee is mandated to give its report by or before October 31. 

The meeting was attended by Administrative Secretary, Law Department, Ladakh; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Leh; Chief Engineers, PWD Ladakh; Chief Engineer, PHE, Ladakh; Chief Engineer, PDD, Ladakh; Chief Planning Officer Kargil and Under Secretary  GAD .
