Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, attended a public grievance redressal camp at Shakar-Chiktan on December 25, where he interacted with local residents and patiently listened to their issues, concerns, and suggestions related to development and public welfare. Representatives from sixteen villages raised matters pertaining to the subdivision.

Emphasising that the UT Administration remains firmly committed to equitable and inclusive development across Ladakh, the Lieutenant Governor said special attention is being given to people living in far-flung, remote, and border areas. He reiterated that development should not remain confined to urban centres but must reach the most difficult and inaccessible regions to ensure that every citizen benefits from progress and an improved quality of life.

The Lieutenant Governor underlined the importance of direct engagement between the administration and the public, stating that such interactions help in understanding ground realities and strengthening public trust. He assured residents that all grievances raised during the camp would be examined carefully and necessary directions would be issued to the concerned departments for their timely redressal.

Kavinder Gupta said that since Ladakh became a Union Territory in 2019, the pace of development has increased significantly, with the UT Administration consistently advancing public welfare and development initiatives across the region.

Recalling the contribution of the people of Kargil, especially those residing in border areas, the Lieutenant Governor said they have always stood with the nation in challenging times, and their sacrifice, courage, and patriotism continue to inspire the country.

Highlighting recent initiatives in the health sector, the Lieutenant Governor said that he had inaugurated a state-of-the-art 3 Tesla MRI facility at District Hospital Kargil a day earlier, which will significantly enhance advanced diagnostic services for the people of Kargil and surrounding areas.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving top priority to the holistic development of Ladakh. He said the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership has accelerated development in remote and difficult regions, ensuring that no citizen is deprived of progress due to geographical challenges.

He further noted that sustained improvements in roads, healthcare, education, power supply, internet connectivity, and administrative services are significantly enhancing the quality of life in Ladakh. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, initiatives focused on transparent governance, digital services, rural development, skill development, and the strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions are being implemented at a rapid pace. He added that development of border areas is vital for the overall development of the nation.

Emphasising the role of youth, the Lieutenant Governor said education, skill development, and employment opportunities remain key priorities, enabling young people to contribute meaningfully to Ladakh’s development while staying in their home region.

Assuring the people of Shakar-Chiktan, the Lieutenant Governor said region-specific demands, including improved access to postal and banking services, enhancement of BSNL connectivity, and strengthening of basic civic amenities, would be addressed on a priority basis. He added that he personally reviews public grievance representations to ensure prompt examination and speedy resolution.

The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed the UT Administration’s commitment to work with dedication, transparency, and public cooperation to ensure holistic and sustainable development across Ladakh.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kargil Nitin Yadav, SDM Shakar-Chiktan Ravi Shanker, and senior district officers from key departments were present.
