Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat visits Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, visited the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) on April 24.

He was received by Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder and Spiritual Director of MIMC, who welcomed the Minister and expressed appreciation for his visit despite a busy schedule.

During the visit, Bhikkhu Sanghasena briefed the Minister on the Centre’s wide range of humanitarian and spiritual initiatives. These include educational programmes for underprivileged children, healthcare services, an old-age home, facilities for the visually impaired, nunneries for spiritual education, and a Yoga and Meditation Centre promoting holistic well-being.

Highlighting ongoing developmental efforts, he informed the Minister about the ambitious Buddha Park project within the campus, underscoring its potential to emerge as a major spiritual and tourist attraction in the region. A formal memorandum seeking support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for its timely completion was also submitted.

Appreciating the Centre’s work, the Union Minister lauded its role in preserving and promoting culture and traditions at the grassroots level. He noted that the Government of India continues to support such initiatives that contribute to cultural enrichment, social welfare, and spiritual development.

Responding positively, the Minister assured that all possible assistance would be extended for the Buddha Park project and other initiatives of MIMC.

Tashi Gyalson accompanied the Minister during the visit.

The Minister later toured the Devachan campus, including the Yoga and Meditation Centre, where he appreciated the serene environment and the institution’s holistic approach to community service and spiritual growth.

Expressing gratitude, Bhikkhu Sanghasena thanked the Minister for his visit. In response, the Minister assured that he would return for a more comprehensive tour and further engagement with the Centre’s activities.
