Tributes paid to renowned poet Muhammad Hussain Asar Olpa in Kargil

Writers, poets, and intellectuals of Kargil paid rich tribute on the demise of renowned Purgi poet, writer and dramatist Muhammad Hussain Asar Olpa on April 10 in J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages centre, Kargil.

Expressing deep grief on the demise of such renowned person, speakers said that the sudden death of Muhammad Hussain is a great loss to entire Kargil. The deceased has rendered his whole life for promotion and preservation of the local literature and his contributions will be remembered in all times to come.

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil, literary and cultural organizations as well as poets and writers of Balti, Shina Dardi and Purgi languages expressed their sympathies with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and prayed for peace to the departed soul.  

Muhammad Hussain Asar Olpa Husain wrote numerous poems, short stories and several dramas in Purgi language. He played a vital role in the development and promotion of Purgi language in the genre of poetry and short story writing.
