Traffic Police organised an interaction-cum- traffic awareness programme at the conference hall, Municipal Committee Leh on March 5 under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Presidents of various transport associations, such as Taxi Union, Truck Union, Van Union, Bike Union, Mazda Bus, Mini Truck Union, drivers and Traffic Police officers/officials participated in the programme.

Superintendent of Police, Traffic, UT Ladakh, Mohd Rafi Giri sought the cooperation of all the transport unions for adhering to traffic rules and regulations, especially for wrong parking, use of mobile phone while driving, drunk driving, over speeding and so on.

Adding that the tourist season is soon to commence, SP Traffic stressed that the tourists should get a positive impression from the transporters of Ladakh. He emphasised that all transport unions should start counselling and awareness programmes for their drivers focusing on tourist and passenger-friendly behaviour.

Traffic Inspector, Jameel-ur-Rehman administered the oath of adhering to traffic rules to all the participants. Traffic Sub-Inspector, Mohd Shafi presented the vote of thanks.

Traffic awareness pamphlets were also distributed to the participants and also among drivers and commuters at Leh Gate and Petrol Pump.
