The District Child Protection Office and District Social Welfare Department, Leh organised Swacchata Pakwada, a cleanliness drive, in registered Child Care Institutions under the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015.

This year's Swacchata Pakwada covered various themes, including conducting Swachhata awareness programs in registered Child Care Institutions to highlight the significance of cleanliness, sanitation, and the importance of hygiene practices like hand-washing.

The campaign also emphasized the need for garbage-free childcare institutions, encouraging children to create useful artifacts from local recycled materials, such as dustbins, pen stands, cards, and storage boxes.

Furthermore, the initiative aimed at sensitizing individuals to the importance of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities. This entailed promoting proper hand-washing facilities, daily cleaning, and disinfection, responsible use of toilets and urinals, efficient water usage, ensuring adequate ventilation, personal hygiene practices like keeping nails clean, daily bathing with clean water, wearing clean clothes, discouraging spitting in open areas, and ending open defecation practices.
