Students rally to spread awareness on tuberculosis

On World TB day Doctors and student marched a rally from Chowkhang Vihara to SNM hospital on March 24 in Leh. It was organized by Health Department Leh.

Dr. Sonam Dawa, Chief Executive Councillor said that Health Dept. alone cannot curb TB and is possible only when there is a collective effort from everyone to fight against it.

He said that the new policy National Health Mission was launched in India which aimed at ending Tuberculosis till 2025. Keeping this in mind he appealed doctors to work for it and drive TB out from the society.

Dr. Yangchan Dolma, CMO said that the main motive of the day is to spread awareness among the people that TB is curable and the treatment for it is free in the hospital.

She said that 1.7 million of people die every year and 4000 people die in a day due to TB disease. So we should be aware of the symptoms of the disease in order to avoid such disease. In future, people will be made aware about the disease through Audio Visual program which will be more effective and fruitful.
