Student representative of EJM College meets CEC, highlights academic issues

Discussion on the grievances and demands put forth by the student representatives of Eliezer Joldan Memorial College was held during a meeting with Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill Council Leh on December 19 at Council Secretariat.

Issues regarding the continuous delay in timely conduct of their annual examination, backlog exams and pending results since the inception of Degree College in Ladakh was highlighted.

To seek a permanent solution for these issues, it was decided to convene a high-level joint meeting of both the Hill Councils of Leh and Kargil with the Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University, UT Administration Ladakh, Secretary Higher Education UT J&K and students representatives of Ladakh in coming days.

C. Phuntsog, Vice-Chancellor, Ladakh University stressed on the agenda of the joint meeting to discuss the future course of the University of Ladakh.

To address the exams and result related issues, Rector Satellite Campus, Leh was asked to prepare a detail proposal to strengthen the existing examination cells of Taru, Leh and Kumbathang, Kargil before the joint meeting.

Rigzin Samphel, Commissioner Secretary pointed out the lack of interest on the part of the University of Kashmir in owning the University of Ladakh. He stressed on the need to draft an SOP to ensure a robust system with a strict timeline with Kashmir University. 

He also assured to consider the demands raised by college students like the heating system, transport facilities, etc in the upcoming budget.
