SOS TCV carries out cleanliness drive on Gandhi Jayanti

On Gandhi Jayanti, Tibetan SOS Children’s Village School Choglamsar carried a cleanliness drive at SNM hospital and Jivetsal Photang. Around 700 students and 150 staff members took part in this drive.

The chief guest of the event was Dr. Phuntsog Angchuk-Deputy Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital. The event was themed as Keep Ladakh Clean and Thank You India Day for all the Government and the people of India for the help and support for the Tibetan People.

Speaking on the day, Dr.Angchuk said, many diseases are transferred from the flies that sit around the garbage’s and dirty places. He stressed the importance of keeping the environment clean to be away from many diseases. He thanked all the staffs who clean the hospital every day. 

The Director SOS TCV Kalsang Phuntsog said,"we are taking this initiative to commemorate the Father of the Nation birth anniversary and to thank every Indian for the kindness and generosity towards the Tibetan. It is also to carry and live up with the message, Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan by Prime Minister- Narendra Modi.” The staff and students  are divided into two groups and assigned to clean SNM Hospital and Jivetsal Photang.
 
The cleanliness drive was flagged off by Dr. Phuntsog Angchuk.
