A total of 8 goats were attacked and killed by a snow leopard during the intervening night of February 4 in Lankarchey village of Kargil district. 

The snow leopard entered the livestock shed owned by Akhoon Sadiq of Gatoo Lankerchey.

He appealed District administration, Department of wildlife, Union Territory of Ladakh to provide compensation.

The villagers said that the leopard has been straying into residential areas and had killed livestock. They urged the administration to trap the leopard. 

Earlier on 29 January 2022, a snow leopard attacked and killed 23 sheep in Lankerchey village and more than 10 sheep were killed by stray dogs attack.
