Sheep Husbandry Dept. organises seminar cum sheep show at Shargole

A day-long seminar-cum-sheep show was organised by District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kargil under National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2022-23 on February 23 at Shargole.

The sheep show was aimed to aware progressive breeders of Shargole block associated with sheep farming. Councilor Shargole Constituency, Mohd Ali Chandan, District Sheep Husbandry Officer (DSHO), Dr. Niyaz-ul-Hassanian, Block Veterinary Officer, doctors and experts from allied departments, PRI, progressive breeders attended the event.

Councilor Chandan thanked the DSHO, Kargil for organizing such programs in his constituency and urged the villagers to take benefit of such camps.

He informed the villagers about the various subsidy components of LAHDC which are aimed to make the farmers self-sufficient and financially independent.

Chandan also urged the heads of concerned departments to take villagers in confidence before introducing a subsidy scheme. He hoped that such events should be held in the future for the welfare of farmers and breeders.

Dr. Niyaz-Ul-Hassanain briefed the participants about the achievements and schemes of the department. He advised people to take benefit of the schemes to increase the livestock population

While talking about the NLM, the DSHO said that the department has planned to organize such programs under NLM at every Block in the future.

He also advised the farmers, having Karakul breed, to look after the breed in the best possible way so that the breed population is increased in the district.

He said the department is committed to increase the livestock in the district and is providing the best quality feed and fodder to the beneficiaries.

During the event, resource persons from other departments also focused on the Pashmina breed, prevention, and control of disease outbreaks. They also threw light on the management of cattle, the Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) National Program and the importance of organic manure.
