LEH :
A one-day seminar on ‘Education within a Family’ was held under the Global alternative education forum, 2017 on June 10 at Lamdon School, Leh.

The seminar was organised by SEBoL in collaboration with Julley Ladakh and 000 Global Vision.

Guest speaker on the occasion Katsuko Fujii from Japan said, “ I believed that education is not just about learning maths and languages. But beyond that, there is a real education. Firstly, to teach the basics for a living becoming independent in our daily life and learning to be able to live together with others is important to lead a better life. And then we should think about what we can do for other, the community and the world.”

Praising the skilfulness of Ladakhi women she said, “I saw mothers of Ladakh are very hardworking.  I felt that the hands of Ladakh's mother are magic hands. And I remember that things were same in Japan in the past. However, there are a lot of efficient and convenient electric appliances today, and no magic hand can be seen in Japan anymore. Creating things with own hand nurture the power of living.”

Otsal Wangdus, President SEBoL sharing the motive behind organising session said that generally, we see fewer parents’ involvement in the upbringing of their children’s education. Children education is not just the responsibility of the teacher and the institution rather parents also plays a very important role which is least seen in Ladakh.

After the event, a question answer session held, where the students shared their understanding and feedback on alternative education seminar.
