Secretary, PWD Ladakh reviews progress of Leh and Kargil Bhawans in New Delhi; calls for timely completion
Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary, Secretary, Public Works Department (PWD), Union Territory of Ladakh, on May 6 conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing construction works of Leh Bhawan and Kargil Bhawan in New Delhi—projects considered significant for the Union Territory.
A detailed review meeting was held at the Conference Hall of Ladakh Bhawan, New Delhi, during which the Secretary assessed the status of all ongoing works. Project-wise progress was reviewed in both financial and physical terms, while executing agencies presented detailed reports on achievements, challenges, and projected timelines for completion.
During the meeting, Choudhary reviewed each component of the projects and stressed the need for better inter-agency coordination, strict adherence to approved timelines, and prompt resolution of issues affecting progress. He emphasized that timely execution is crucial considering the public importance of these infrastructure projects.
The Secretary later conducted on-site inspections of the Leh and Kargil Bhawan project sites at Dwarka, New Delhi. During the inspections, he reviewed the progress of civil, electrical, and allied works and interacted with the Superintending Engineer, CPWD, Executive Engineers of CPWD, and officers of PWD Ladakh present at the sites.
Baseer Choudhary stated that such prestigious projects must be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officials to expedite pending works, remove bottlenecks on priority, and ensure close monitoring of progress.
He further directed that regular review mechanisms be institutionalised and accountability fixed at all levels to ensure timely and efficient completion of the projects. Reiterating the importance of the Leh and Kargil Bhawans, he said the projects remain a top priority and must be completed in a time-bound manner to meet the expectations of the people of Ladakh.
The review meeting and inspections were attended by the Chief Engineer, PWD Ladakh; Superintending Engineers of PWD Leh and Kargil; Executive Engineers of the Construction Divisions Leh and Kargil; and other concerned officials from CPWD and PWD Ladakh.
