Secretary Power reviews progress of DDUGJY and PMDP Rural schemes

Secretary Power & NRE Department, Ravinder Kumar reviewed the rural electrification works under DDUGJY and PMDP Rural being implemented by POWERGRID in Leh and Kargil districts of UT Ladakh on June 30.

Kailash Rathore, Executive Director, POWERGRID, and G.A. Mir, Chief Engineer, Distribution, PDD Ladakh were present in the meeting.

Executive Director, POWERGRID assured the Secretary that the 66/11 KV substations of Chuchot and Drass would be completed and commissioned by September 2021 and the 33/11 KV substations of Diskit and Pinchimik would be completed and commissioned by November 2021.

Discussion on varied agendas such as ROW (right of way) issues with the Wildlife and Forest Department, taking over of assets by PDD and SLSC were discussed in the meeting. Besides, Executive Director, POWERGRID, and Chief Engineer, Power Development Department assured that issues would be resolved in mutual consultation with the people in the interest of the projects.

Ravinder Kumar directed the Project Implementation Agency (PIA) POWERGRID to expedite the rural electrification works in Ladakh so that the scheme can be within the approved schedule. He also asked to provide a reliable power supply to the rural areas of Ladakh.

The meeting was also attended by SE, PDD Ladakh, CGM NR-II & GM NR-II, and other engineers of PDD and POWERGRID.
