Sanitation drive held in major tourist spots of Leh

\r\nA sanitation drive was carried under ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ campaign at various major tourist destinations involving tourist and local stakeholders on September 20 in Leh.\r\n

\r\nThe cleanliness drive was organised by Leh Development Authority and Assistant Director Tourism.\r\n
\r\n
\r\nDirector tourism flagged off teams from the tourist office, Leh towards various destinations.\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nThe staff members of LDA and tourism department headed by Dr.  Zaida Bano, CEO LDA, and other stakeholders cleaned Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, Namgail Tsemo, Shey Palace, Shey Masjid, Pangong Lake area along with all routes of these entire tourist destinations and collected about 4 to 5 quintal of garbage. \r\n

\r\n
\r\n
\r\nLikewise, under ‘Swachhata hi Sehat’, sanitation drive was also organised at all the health institutions of the district. In Leh block, the programme was launched on September 19 at Primary Health Centre Chuchot by Dr. Yangchen Dolma, Chief Medical Officer Leh.\r\n

\r\n
\r\nDr. Tashi Namgail, District Health Officer Leh, Dr.  Mohd Iqbal, Block Medical Officer Nambardar, member women alliance, VHSC members, Staff of PHC and villagers of Chuchot also participated in the programme. \r\n

\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nWhile addressing the masses and health officials, Dr. Yangchan briefed about the “Swachhata Hi Sehat” campaign in detail and said that the campaign will continue till October 2 at every PHCs/ Sub Centres of the district. \r\n

\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\nDr. Tashi Namgial stressed upon the people for maintaining personal and environmental hygiene to avoid disease and briefed about various diseases caused due to lack of sanitation. \r\n

\r\n
\r\n
\r\nA similar programme was also conducted at Primary Health Centre Thiksay and was also launched at all the block headquarters, PHCs and sub-centers.\r\n
