Rich tributes paid to Swami Vivekananda on National Youth Day celebration in Kargil

On the occasion of the 161st birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, National Youth Day was commemorated at LAACL Hall, Kargil, on January 12, organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Kargil in collaboration with Digital Computer Centre Kargil, under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The event featured a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on National Youth Day, with participants attentively listening to his insightful words.

Commencing with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, the program included a warm welcome speech by Jigmat Spaldon, District Youth Officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra Kargil. Councilor Taisuru, Abdul Hadi, highlighted Swami Vivekananda's teachings, expressing gratitude to NYK Kargil for organizing such significant events that serve the youth.

Councilor Saliskote Mohd Sajjad emphasised the inspirational life of Swami Vivekananda and urged students and youth to draw inspiration from his teachings.

The event also featured special lectures on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda by students of Digital Computer Centre.

National Youth Day, also known as Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, is celebrated on January 12 across India to honor the influential spiritual leader and thinker.

As part of the celebration, the chief guest and guest of honor jointly flagged off 25 My Bharat Volunteers, trained by the Traffic Department. These volunteers are set to play a crucial role in traffic management during the upcoming road safety week from January 11 to January 17, 2024.
