REWA 2.0 screening test on October 25 to select 80 UPSC aspirants: Bhanu Prabha ₹1 lakh financial assistance and ₹18,000 accommodation support for selected candidates
Administrative Secretary, Higher Education, UT Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha, on October 6 held a press conference to highlight the REWA 2.0 Scheme, an initiative of the UT Administration aimed at providing financial assistance to meritorious aspirants from Ladakh preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Addressing the press conference, Bhanu Prabha informed that the Department of Higher Education will conduct the REWA 2.0 Screening Test on October 25, 2026, as part of the selection process for the scheme. The initiative seeks to support deserving aspirants who may face financial constraints in accessing quality UPSC coaching in cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu and Srinagar.
She said the screening test will be conducted at examination centres in Leh and Kargil, with 80 candidates to be selected for coaching—40 each from the erstwhile Leh and Kargil districts. Two seats each have been earmarked for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) from the erstwhile Leh and Kargil districts.
Under REWA 2.0, the UT Administration will provide financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each to the 80 selected candidates to join coaching institutes for UPSC Civil Services Examination preparation. An additional ₹18,000 will be provided towards accommodation expenses.
The Administrative Secretary said the screening test will be conducted on the pattern of the UPSC Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). Applicants must be between 21 and 35 years of age, have a combined annual household income of not more than ₹8 lakh, and possess a valid Ladakh domicile certificate.
She informed that the last date for submission of applications is October 15, 2026, and urged eligible aspirants to apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute inconvenience.

Bhanu Prabha encouraged maximum participation of eligible aspirants in the screening test and urged them to make full use of the opportunity provided under the scheme. She expressed hope that the initiative would help more students from Ladakh succeed in the UPSC Civil Services Examination and contribute to strengthening the administration in the UT.
She also clarified that the examination centres will be located only in Leh and Kargil, while the merit list will be prepared on the basis of the applicant’s domiciled district.
