Public outreach camp held at Rumbak village under “Mimangs-Si-sJabstogs” initiative Administration brings essential services to villagers’ doorstep
A public outreach camp was held at Rumbak village under the “Mimangs-Si-sJabstogs” (Administration at Your Doorstep) initiative, aimed at delivering essential government services directly to local residents.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the villagers. Shabir Hussain, ACR Leh and Nodal Officer, expressed gratitude to the community for their active engagement and underscored the importance of such initiatives in addressing public grievances and resolving issues at the grassroots level.
The camp primarily focused on addressing land-related issues, including land mutation, compensation for land acquired during road construction, and Aabadi (land extension) concerns. ACR Hussain assured residents that these matters would be taken up with the concerned departments for early resolution. Several villagers also highlighted delays in receiving compensation for land used in developmental projects.
Other key issues raised included electricity connectivity, particularly for one unconnected household in Yurutse, and telecommunication challenges with villagers requesting the restoration of the non-functional BSNL tower. Participants also emphasized the need for improved flood control measures along river channels affected by road construction.
As part of the outreach, officers from various departments conducted awareness sessions on government schemes. The Power Development Department (PDD promoted the Rooftop Solar Subsidy Scheme, encouraging villagers to avail of subsidies provided by both the UT Administration and the Central Government. Updates were also shared on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which aims to provide safe drinking water to rural households.
Representatives from the Labour Department and Cooperative Department briefed attendees about employment opportunities under MGNREGA and cooperative initiatives designed to strengthen rural livelihoods. Issues related to BPL (Below Poverty Line) and APL (Above Poverty Line) categorization were also discussed, with villagers seeking assistance to access welfare benefits.
Concerns over road connectivity in rural areas were also raised, with an emphasis on improving accessibility and infrastructure for remote villages like Rumbak.
ACR Leh directed all concerned departments to prepare detailed reports outlining how grievances raised during the camp would be addressed and to submit them to the Deputy Commissioner, Leh for prompt action. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring timely and effective grievance redressal through continuous community engagement.
Later, ACR Leh visited the drip irrigation-based cultivation site near Phey village, where approximately 500 kanals of land have been successfully brought under cultivation with the support of the Horticulture, Rural Development, and IWMP departments.
The “Mimangs-Si-sJabstogs”* initiative continues to serve as an effective platform for connecting the government with citizens, fostering transparency, and promoting inclusive development by addressing issues at the community level.
