Public meeting organised by BJP 2 days before Council elections We will deliver 20 years of work within 5 years, says Thupstan Chewang

Bhartiya Janta Party organised a public meeting on 14th October at Polo ground where the leaders of the party spoke about the aim and agendas of the party if they successfully form the council body in the majority.
 
The dignitaries present were Dr. Nirmal Singh- Dy. Chief Minister J&K, Avinash Khana-MP, and BJP’s Vice President, Thupstan Chhewang-MP, Chhering Dorjey-Minister for Cooperative J&K, Abdul Gani Koli-Transport Minister J&K, Priya Sethi-Minister for Education &Culture J&K.

Dr. Sonam Dawa-BJP District President and Dorjay Angchok- BJP District Yuva Morcha President presented the welcome speech. 
Dr. Nirmal Singh said that he had spoken to PM Modi who had shown concern for the people of Ladakh. He asked the people to trust BJP and vote for the party if people want to see constructive change. He spoke about establishing smart border villages similar to smart cities. He also promised that J&K will soon give 24/7 electricity in every part of the state. He blamed the previous state govt. for having put the state in electricity dept of ₹ 7,000 crore but will not let the common people feel the brunt of it. He also spoke about the benefit of the Ladli Beti Yojna by the Govt. introduced in the State especially for girl child’s education. 

Avinash Khanna also targeted Congress’ failures and asked the public to give full support to BJP in this Council Election. He promised that if the people of Leh District support all the candidates of the 24 constituency then the CEC will be given the status of the Cabinet Minister of State. He emphasised about the Mudra Bank Scheme that will provide ₹ 50,000/- and ₹10 lakh loan with 1% interest per month to start your own business. He also said that the winning candidate of the Council will be given ₹ 1 Crore 20 Lakh each for development in their respective constituency.
 
Thupstan Chhewang said that the present Govt. is supportive of the needs and requirements of the people of Ladakh and this is evident from the way the party members from outside Ladakh are visiting the area now and then. He added that they have promising to give required funds to the Council for the development of the region. He also blamed Congress for being lazy in delivering their work.

He said, “We will deliver 20 years of work within 5 years”. He said that BJP is in full support of giving UT to Ladakh since the time of its inception. 
 
Chhering Dorjey blamed Congress for not being able to deliver satisfactory work in the aftermath 2010 floods, especially in areas of Khalatse, Nubra and Leh because of which the Council is still in debt. He also said that the current Council has delayed the completion of the Leh beautification of the main market and failed to complete the reconstruction of roads in Leh. He said that there is a lot of pending work which can only be completed by a Council with capabilities. He also made an announcement wherein he said that the party leaders oppose the High Court’s decision on No Reservation in Promotion. He said that the decision is unconstitutional and that they will take the matter to the SC with the support of the people. With the decision of taking the matter to the SC, the petition will be stronger if all the parties in the region will join hands for this issue. 
 
Priya Sethi requested the people to support the Bartiya Janta Party. She focused upon some of the accomplished schemes of the party the PM’s Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. 
 
Abdul Gani Koli focused on the problems of transportation and parking in Leh. He promised to resolve all the issues related to it. The public meeting ended with a vote of thanks given by Sayyida Bano Ladakhi.
