Police, civil administration hold public outreach programme in Sham district
A joint public outreach programme involving the Police and Civil Administration was held in Sham district on May 12 to strengthen community relations and address public concerns at the grassroots level.
During the interaction, officials engaged directly with representatives of various organisations, including the LBA, political parties, Women Alliance, LAS, religious groups and village lambardars. Discussions focused on issues related to law and order, civic amenities and the developmental needs of the region.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Sham, Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), assured the public that extensive tours of all villages in the district would be conducted to ensure that development initiatives effectively reach every corner of the region.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Aijaz Malik (JKPS), highlighted the department’s commitment towards a people-friendly policing system and emphasised round-the-clock availability for public safety. He also assured the gathering that he would personally visit villages across the district to better understand local issues and strengthen police-public relations.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Khaltse briefed the gathering on various ongoing developmental works in the subdivision.
SHO Police Station Khaltsi also addressed issues related to crime prevention, with special emphasis on curbing drug abuse in the area.
Local leaders expressed gratitude to the UT Administration, particularly the Director General of Police, Chief Secretary and the Lieutenant Governor, for the creation of Sham district, describing it as a significant step towards greater administrative accessibility and regional development.
The officers assured the public that all grievances and concerns raised during the public darbar would be addressed in a timely manner and reiterated that public cooperation remains essential for maintaining peace, harmony and progress in the region.
