People of Kargil get awareness on various Govt schemes

A day-long intensive awareness programme on Special Outreach Programmes on the theme ‘Sath Hai, Vishwas Hai, Ho Raha Vikas Hai’ was held on June 30 at Auditorium Hall, Kargil.

The campaign was organised by Field Publicity Unit Leh in collaboration with Song and Drama Division, Ministry of I&B, Education, ICDS, Rural Sanitation, Rural Development, Health Department and Hindustan Petroleum Company.

The aim was to mobilise and sensitise the masses about the benefit and provision of national public welfare programmes.

Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan, CEC Kargil, chief guest highlighted the importance of various programmes and policies launched by the government of India for the upliftment of the masses in general and the poor in particular.  

He said that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is in full swing in Kargil as the area is traditionally open defecation free since centuries as the local practice of using of household latrines were common and the wastage was used as local manure in the fields by the local farmers.

Haji Gulzar Hussain, DC, Kargil focused on the need for wide publicity of different centrally sponsored schemes in every nook and corner of the district.  Expressing concern about the Mudra scheme which is not known to many people, he impressed upon the officers of Field Publicity and the State Bank of India to conduct awareness programmes in this regard.

During the awareness programme resource persons from Rural Development, Health, Hindustan Petroleum and State Bank of India delivered awareness and extension lectures on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, PM Ujwalla Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and three social security schemes to aware masses about various aspects and provisions of these schemes.

The outreach programme was joined by Ashas, Anganwadi workers, village level workers and a large number of students from different educational institutions.
