JAMMU :
A delegation of PDP unit, Kargil under the leadership of Chairman J&K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali called upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at her residence and apprised her about the various demands of the people of Kargil on February 13.

The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.

The delegation on behalf of the people of Kargil showed their immense happiness on the inclusion of Kargil in UDAN scheme and grant of special duty allowance to the Government employees of Ladakh region.

Presenting the memorandum the delegation demanded to fulfil the demands promised by late Mufti Mohammad Sayed and the Chief Minister herself during her tour which includes allotment of land in Dwarka, New Delhi for construction of Kargil House, demands of various blocks, demands repeated to Degree College and to police personnel.

They also apprise the Government of India and the People Democratic Party for the approval of Zojila Tunnel construction.
Taking the issues of the youths, the memorandum demanded, allocation of Assistant professors posts for different subjects from the central pool of the administrative department vide Order No. 544-HE of 2017 at Government Degree College Kargil at the earliest possible.

They also requested to allocate posts to GDC Kargil, Posting of Principal at GDC Kargil which is lying vacant for the last one year and suitable transfer policy for Assistant Professors.

In the memorandum, they also demand that the faculties who have completed their tenure at their hometown College should transfer and give chance to other faculty members who are serving in other colleges of the state. Since some of the Assistant Professors are serving in the Government Degree College for last eight to ten years.

The memorandum also reads, “Keeping in view that most of the Police personnel’s belonging to Kargil are transferred outside Kargil and faces lots of problems, the establishment of Kargil-Leh police range with a DIG to the police personals of Kargil in particular and whole Ladakh in general. Presently the two districts are under the direct command of DIG CKR at Srinagar which is not very convenient due to the long distance and closure of Zojila during the winter season.

Moreover, we demand that its headquarters should be stationed at Kargil owing to its location, which is equidistance from Srinagar as well as Leh and also from the fact that Leh has already been sanctioned with an IRP Battalion. So the establishment of police range headquarters at Kargil will be both logic and justice, Suitable Transfer Policy for police personnel belonging to Ladakh who are serving in other parts of the state is again a matter to be looked upon.

Creation of a Separate Security Wing for Ladakh region headed by an officer of the rank of a Deputy SP is also the need of the hour. Since Ladakh is flooded with VIP duties during summers and the operation of Pawan Hans and to add in it the operation of civil aircraft under UDAN Scheme at Kargil has made it necessary to have a separate security wing with its office at Kargil. Keeping in view its location fact which falls in between Leh and Zanskar, Kargil district will be apt for the security wing location.

Congratulating the people of Kargil about the sanctioning of Zojjila Tunnel and Inclusion of the district under Udan Scheme, Mehbooba Mufti, Assured Chairman J&K Legislative Council and the delegates and said that government is trying to complete all the projects which are promised by the late leader, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and herself during her tours to Kargil.
