One-time age relaxation announced for Group ‘A’ & ‘B’ posts in Ladakh

Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson extended heartfelt congratulations to the youth and job aspirants of Ladakh, welcoming the UT Administration’s decision to grant a one-time age relaxation for direct recruitment to Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Gazetted posts.
The special relaxation was issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) under Order No. 280-LA(GAD) of 2025, dated June 30, 2025. It provides a one-time upper age limit relaxation of five (5) years for all categories—reserved and unreserved—for recruitment processes conducted in 2025 and 2026.
This relief addresses concerns raised by many aspirants who missed previous opportunities due to administrative delays following the formation of the Union Territory in October 2019.
With this provision, aspirants from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Areas Adjoining the Line of Control (ALC), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) can now avail up to 20 years of total age relaxation, with the maximum permissible upper age limit capped at 56 years on the relevant date of eligibility.
Importantly, the inclusion of the ALC category—which is typically excluded under standard DoPT guidelines—acknowledges the unique challenges faced by residents of remote and border areas in Ladakh. All candidates must hold valid domicile and category certificates issued by competent authorities in Ladakh.
CEC Tashi Gyalson expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd), and the GAD Ladakh for addressing this long-standing demand and ensuring inclusive, equitable opportunities for Ladakhi youth.
He urged all eligible aspirants to take full advantage of the opportunity and begin preparing for upcoming recruitment processes.
