On 17th Parinirvana day, tributes pour in for 19th Gyalras Bakula Rinpoche

A prayer meeting was held to observe the 17th Parinirvana day of 19th Gyalras Bakula Rinpoche on November 4 at Hotel Grand Dragon.
 
The program was organised by Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Memorial Society and Pethub Galdan Targaisling Monastery. 

CEC, Tashi Gyalson; MP, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgail; Deputy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, Ladakh Gonpa Association, President, Ven. Shadup Chamba and many other dignitaries were present. 
 
Speaking on the occasion Bakula Rinpoche’s Former Secretary, Sonam Wangchuk gave a brief account of the extraordinary achievements of the Rinpoche from being a monk to becoming India’s ambassador in Mongolia to achieving Padma Bhushan. He stated that despite being a Congress party associate he never faced political biases and was thus favoured by all irrespective of the change in govt which is evident from his 10 years-long tenure as Minority Commission member between the era of Indira Gandhi(UPA) and Moraji Desai(NDA). 

He informed they had formed a Bakula Rinpoche’s Memorial Committee Society for promoting oneness and betterment of the region irrespective of any religion. The committee had solemnly passed a few resolutions i.e 1) to send a proposal to the centre to felicitate late Rinpoche with Padma Vibhushan. 2) To mark this day as a public holiday 3) to accumulate Rinpoche’s contribution in the region’s school texts. 4) to erect his 12 ft. statue and amphitheater at Shradhanjali park near the airport. 

The committee urged both the CEC and MP to look into the matter. 
 
Jamyang Tsering Namgyal took the stage to share the modern architect of Ladakh’s tremendous benefaction to the people of Ladakh in awe. He said, unlike today’s political scenario Rinpoche never had biases and sole party beneficial intentions, his objective was genuine concerning the whole community. He wished the principles of the 19th Bakula Rinpoche to be maintained for peace and prosperity of the UT and to keep it as the baseline of every polity’s ideology. 
 
CEC, Hill Council, Leh said that the Rinpoche dream of attaining a separate identity as a Union Territory is fulfilled today and the whole Ladakh is in huge debt to the Rinpoche for showing us the way. 

He said, “Now that we have accomplished our long-term goal it’s the responsibility of each citizen to sincerely contribute in the establishment of the foundation of the UT”.

Tashi advised the mass to have patience with the administration and anticipate a very flourishing future and not to put any hindrance on the same. He said that all of this is possible if we follow the disciplines of the late Rinpoche. 

Tashi appreciated the resolutions of the Memorial Committee Society and assured it will be of utmost priority and will do everything in his potentiality.
