Officials address civic issues during outreach programme in Barsoo
The Khidmat-e-Awaam programme, held under the initiative “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore,” was organised at Panchayat Halqa Barsoo on March 25, with district administration officials reaching out to residents and addressing various grievances on the spot.
During the programme, locals raised several issues, including the repair of a footbridge and the need for improved road cleanliness. The concerned departments were directed to take immediate action for their prompt resolution.
A series of directions were issued during the proceedings. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sankoo, Mohd Saleem Wazir, directed the Block Development Officer to prioritise the repair of the footbridge. The Executive Engineer, Suru Valley Division, assured the immediate clearance of accumulated debris on Patoo Road to restore smooth connectivity.
Residents also highlighted concerns regarding damaged and hanging electrical wires and poles. The SDM instructed the Junior Engineer of the Power Development Department to carry out necessary repairs at the earliest to ensure public safety and uninterrupted power supply.
On agricultural support, villagers demanded that seed distribution be conducted within the village. The Nambardar assured full cooperation, including the provision of storage facilities and logistical support for smooth distribution.
The SDM emphasised the importance of regular field visits by officials and directed all departments to maintain close coordination for effective service delivery and timely redressal of grievances.
A medical camp was also organised on the occasion, where free medicines were distributed and health check-ups, including blood pressure and sugar tests, were conducted. Departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Revenue, PHE, and Rural Development also informed residents about various beneficiary-oriented schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Mohd Saleem Wazir highlighted that several government services, particularly revenue-related services, are now available online, making access easier for the public. Certificates and other services were also distributed among beneficiaries.
Later, the SDM inspected Ayushman Arogya Mandir Barsoo to review staff availability and functioning. He also visited Government Middle School Pattoo and Government Higher Secondary School Barsoo to assess educational infrastructure.
During the Sham-e-Awaam session, the SDM briefed the public on actions taken and urged villagers to actively participate in the implementation of government schemes. He encouraged people to avail themselves of the maximum benefits from various welfare programmes.
The programme was attended by the Councillor Barsoo, Executive Engineer R&B, Tehsildar Sankoo, Block Veterinary Officer, and other officials.
The Councillor and local residents appreciated the initiative, thanking the district administration for providing doorstep services and expressing hope that such outreach programmes would continue in the future.
