New ration card launched in Sankar, councillor to distribute in their respective constituencies

The distribution of new ration cards for the next three year was launched by CEC, Dr. Sonam Dawa in Sankar on May 24. The ration card is going to be distributed in different blocks of Leh district in a phased manner.

Dr. Sonam Dawa, CEC said, “The pending ration card was a problem but now it is solved.  With the introduction of National Food Security Act, the actual beneficiaries have been benefitted.” 

He appreciated the timely completion of Adhaar seeding and online entry of the ration card by the official.
He directed the councillor to distribute the ration card in the village and also educate them about the importance of Food Security Act, rate list and category of the card. 

Ruth Mary, AD,  Food Civil Supplies and Public Distribution informed that at present there are 26,858 ration cards and  1,21,269 beneficiaries.

She further informed, “In 2016-17, we have imposed challan of 3, 94,100 against the violation of food act in Leh market. In April-May 2017 we have imposed challan of 81,000 from the shopkeeper who sells expired items in the market.” 

Tsering Sandup, EC, Food Civil Supplies and Public Distribution said that due to the new system in ration card such as national food security act, online feeding, Adhaar seeding in different time period, we faced several problems and got delayed in completion. He requested the councillor to come forward to distribute the ration card among the people in their respective constituency.

A total of ten household of different categories were distributed the new ration card on the occasion.
