NCC conducts career counselling, leadership workshop at EJM college Leh

The 1 Ladakh Battalion NCC on April 29 conducted a workshop on career opportunities in the Armed Forces and leadership development in collaboration with Tamil Nadu-based NGO Vizhi Awakening and Government EJM College, Leh.

The workshop aimed to inspire youth to pursue careers in the Armed Forces and to develop leadership qualities among students.

Commander Elantamizh Komahan of the Indian Navy attended the programme as the chief guest. Also present were the Administrative Officer of 1 Ladakh Battalion NCC, Principal of Government EJM College Dr Stanzin Yangdol, faculty members, and other officials.

The session featured motivational talks by representatives of Vizhi Awakening Trust, an organisation dedicated to youth development and leadership training. Awakener Jenny Francina A and Awakener S. Haripriya, both accomplished NCC cadets and youth mentors, shared their personal journeys and experiences in NCC.

They provided insights into leadership, discipline, and preparation for competitive defence examinations such as NDA, CDS, and AFCAT, encouraging students to build confidence, develop life skills, and consider careers in the Armed Forces.

Addressing the gathering, Commander Komahan highlighted the wide range of opportunities available in the Indian Navy and urged students to serve the nation with dedication and pride.

The programme emphasised the importance of discipline, leadership, and nation-building among youth. The NCC Administrative Officer also mentored cadets on the nuances of Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews and preparation for UPSC examinations.

Principal Dr Stanzin Yangdol and ANO Lt Dr Ujwala Anandrao Koche appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to the organisers and speakers for conducting an informative and inspiring session.

The workshop provided detailed guidance on various entry routes into the Armed Forces, preparation strategies for examinations, and mentorship support for aspirants.

A total of 65 students, including 13 participants from Tamil Nadu and 52 students from EJM College and Ringjup School Leh, took part in the programme.

The event also served as a platform for cultural exchange, reflecting the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline.”
