National Voters day observed in Leh

The national voters day was observed under the banner ‘Accessible Elections’, 8th “National Voter’s Day” 2018 on January 25 at DC Conference Hall, Leh.

Highlighting the significance of the day, Moses Kunzang, ADC Leh said that the main motive of National Voters’ Day celebration is to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process for enhanced participation of citizens in the electoral process.

He congratulated all the participants’ especially new voters who are all set to play a vital role in franchising their choice of candidates in forthcoming elections of Panchayat, Parliamentary, State Assembly and Hill Council Leh.

He urged upon the students to spread awareness among their family members and friends about the importance of voting and to be a responsible and informed voter.
 
Tajamul Ara, Nodal Officer SVEEP, Leh said that the main purpose of celebrating the voter’s day is to woo more new voters and to inspire them to exercise their franchise when the occasion comes.

Sonam Chosjor, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Gurmet Dorjey, Tehsildar Leh BLOs, young volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Leh, new voters and students of both Boys and Girls Higher Secondary School Leh were present.

The day was also observed in Nyoma under the chairmanship of Tsering Motup, SDM, Nyoma. More than 300 people including newly enrolled voters of Changthang region participated.
 
Speaking on the significance of the day, Tsering Motup urged the new voters to exercise their voting rights which is very important to elect a right person and right Government which in return give a good governance in fulfilling developmental aspirations of the people.
 
Election cards were distributed among the newly enrolled electors by the SDM on the occasion. 
Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SDM Khaltsi also chaired the National Voter’s Day at Khaltsi.
