National Nutrition Week: KVK Nyoma aware people on diet and nutrients

\r\nTo mark National Nutrition Week, awareness programme regarding proper nutrition among pregnant ladies, lactating mothers and growing children was conducted in different villages of Nyoma block from September 1 to 7.\r\n

\r\nThe awareness programme was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST-K, Nyoma in Nidder, Nyoma, Kesar, Mudh, Rongo, Puga and Tibetan Refugees Camp, Sumdo.\r\n

\r\n
\r\nAddressing the gathering on a concluding day, Dr. Anwar Hussain briefed about the importance of balanced diet for proper body growth and development, body maintenance, reproduction and immune system.\r\n

\r\n
\r\n
\r\nHe stressed on the consumption of fibre rich foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains for prevention and/or management of various chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension, obesity, heart-related problems as well as deficiency diseases such as anaemia and scurvy.\r\n

\r\nPreparation of local organic delicacies such as Khambir burger, mung bean sprouts, apple chat and buckwheat/dao pakoda was demonstrated and served among the trainees.\r\n
