Minister focuses on widening the base of cooperative societies at grass root levels to boost coopera

\r\nA 5-day long training-cum-awareness programme under the banner ‘Developing Cooperatives as Rural Growth Centers’ under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) was inaugurated on September 12 in Leh.\r\n

\r\n
\r\nThe programme was organised by National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) with an aim to aware and educate the member of cooperative society and staffs of the department about the skills and management system of modern cooperative functioning.\r\n
\r\n
\r\n \r\n
\r\n
\r\nMore than 25 members from different leading cooperative societies of Leh district participated.\r\n
\r\n
\r\n \r\n
\r\n
\r\nDuring the inauguration day, Chering Dorje, Minister for Cooperative & Ladakh Affairs said that co-operative societies must work in line with corporate governance and focus on widening the base of cooperative societies at grass root levels to take the cooperative movement to higher levels in the State.\r\n

\r\n
\r\nHe appreciated the expert of NCDC for imparting training in Leh for the second time and hoped for more efficient and effective functioning of cooperative societies in Ladakh.\r\n

\r\n
\r\nTalking about the positive role of cooperative societies in Ladakh, he stressed on educating people especially SHGs about the benefits of cooperative societies which have election and auditing practices in its ambit. Also, he emphasizes on increasing the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) in Leh district which is less than 100 at present.\r\n

\r\nMinister informed that under ICDP, a comprehensive DPR for both Leh and Kargil district is at the stage of approval from NCDC. The DPR was designed keeping in mind the natural resources available at block levels and the potential products such as apricot, pashmina, sea buck thorn and dairy business in Ladakh.\r\n

\r\nHighlighting the developmental activities of the cooperative sector, Dorje mentioned about the upcoming dehairing machine for pashmina processing, 1000 metric tonne cold storage at Leh and recently established Super Bazer at Leh.\r\n

\r\nDr. Sonam Dawa, CEC welcomed the expert trainers of NCDC and thanked for organizing in Leh. For effective functioning of all the cooperative societies and SHGs in Leh, Dr. Dawa suggested bringing all societies in the ambit of one apex body or governing body to ensure utmost coordination among societies.\r\n

\r\nPeerzada-Hafizullah Shah, Registrar Cooperative Societies, J&K talking about the functioning of cooperative societies in J&K State in general and Ladakh, in particular, praised Leh for having very good cooperative culture. \r\n

\r\nSonam Norboo, Ex. Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Leh stressed upon all to take this 5-days training very seriously so that they can replicate their experience practically on the field.\r\n

\r\nExpert trainers headed by Dr. Chowhan of NCDC motivated trainees by screening a short movie based on the Mulkanoor Cooperative Society of Andhra Pradesh which has a very successful record.\r\n
