Member, National Commission for Minorities visits Sankoo sub division Discusses Prime Minister’s new 15-point program, implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Kargil

Member, National Commission for Minorities, Govt. of India, Rinchen Lhamo on May 3 visited Sub Division Sankoo and discussed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s new 15-point program, Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and issues faced by the minority communities.

Various delegations raised several issues such as the upgradation of Girl's High School to Girl's Higher Secondary School, Kendra Vidyalaya at Panikhar and Sankoo, Minority Hostel at Sankoo, Restoration of Panikhar Tourist Banglow, Jio Tower at Panikhar, hospital, Lady Nurse at Juldoo, Rangdum, Sarai for Rangdum villagers and implementation of minority schemes such as Nai Manzil Scheme, Sekho or Kamao, Nai Roshni, reservation for the Ladakhi student in various institutions of India based on Schedule Tribe.

Zonal Education Officer Sankoo informed about the status of scholarships and the education of minority communities. She directed the ZEO for a detailed report to her office for the upgradation of Girl's High School to Girl's Higher Secondary.

Member, National Commission for Minorities directed various heads of many departments for the early redressal of the same. She also directed the SDM, Sankoo to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Minority Hostel, Sarai at Tai Suru for Rangdum villagers and sorted various minor issues. She also assured that the Ministry will make efforts for the formulation of overall policy, planning and assured to redress all the issues with concerned departments on priority.

 She informed that the government is implementing a 15-point program formulated by the Union Government aimed to implement the schemes being formulated for the welfare of minorities living in India.

She also informed about various schemes such as ‘Padho Pardesh’, Educational Loans for overseas studies for the students belonging to Minority Communities, and said that the ministry is introducing new schemes for the welfare of minority students.

Rinchen Lamo also chaired a review meeting of district officers at Conference Hall, Baroo to discuss the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and Prime Minister’s New 15-point program.

She apprised about the grievances and memorandum of the villagers which she collected during her maiden visit to Chiktan, Drass, and Sankoo Sub Divisions.

The concerned heads of the departments informed about the implementation of schemes under minority affairs and briefed about works and welfare schemes for minorities executed in Kargil such as minority scholarship, minority schemes, women empowerment schemes, skill development, and also apprised certain issues related to the schemes.

She said all CSSs should be implemented in Ladakh such as Sekho Aur Kamao to make educated youth financially independent and make them job providers rather than job seekers. Also, she stressed on Tourism Department to restore the old monuments and asked to preserve heritage. Installation of the signages at various tourist spots, promotion of winter tourism, and timely advertisement of every event were stressed.

Rinchen Lamo also reviewed the status of JJM in the Kargil district and directed to speed up works in Drass, Shakar Chiktan, Sankoo, and Wakha to achieve the targets. She also advised to handhold the PRIs to adopt the Centrally Sponsored Schemes.

Member NCM also directed the concerned department to install mobile towers at Henasku, Panikhar, and other uncovered villages which have network issues. She was also informed about the skills development schemes, Pre-Matric and Post Matric scholarship schemes.

She said, “Since Ladakh is a full minority UT, all minority-related welfare schemes should be implemented and the purpose of the visit is to assess the ground situation”.

She hoped that the District Administration will implement these schemes and assured that the Ministry will make all the effort for the formulation of overall policy and planning.
