Meeting on special summary revision of Photo Electoral Roll in Kargil held

Ladakh roll observer, Dr. Vasanthakumar Namasivayam chaired a meeting with district officers and political parties regarding a special summary revision of photo electoral rolls w.r.t 01-01-2024 as the qualifying date at the conference hall, Baroo, Kargil on November 18.

Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer, Kargil, Shrikant Suse; Deputy District Election Officer, Kargil, SDMs, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Election Naib Tehsildar, Nodal Officer SVEEP, Kargil, and representatives from various political parties were present in the meeting.

The Deputy Commissioner/ District Election Officer provided a detailed overview of the electoral process and SSR activities in the district. 

Dr. Vasanthakumar Namasivayam, the Election observer shared the procedure to be followed for new voter additions, corrections in details, shifting of residence, etc with officers and political parties.

Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the importance of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) campaign in schools and colleges and public involvement in the electoral process and took feedback and suggestions from all the participants.

The Roll Observer emphasized the importance of mass awareness campaigns targeting prospective electors, encouraging them to enroll in the roll for participating actively in forthcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2024.

He added that the meeting was aimed at bolstering public participation and streamlining the electoral process for the benefit of all citizens. He also informed about the National Voters Service Portal and Voter Helpline. 

Later, he visited Government High School Baroo, where the Booth Level Officer, Baroo Polling Station apprised him of the latest additions and corrections in the electoral data received to date.

In order to facilitate the preparation of an updated and correct Electoral Roll, special camps will be organised on December 2-3, 2023 at all polling stations of the district where the BLOs will be present.
