LG Mathur meets Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment  Requests for Rehabilitation/De-addiction centres in Ladakh

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur met Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar in New Delhi on May 5.

LG Mathur apprised about various non-government organisations (NGOs) working for the benefit and development of Ladakh, including those running old age homes. He informed about the ongoing census to collect the data on the number of persons with disabilities (PwDs) in Ladakh and shared that Unique Disability ID (UDID) will be distributed to PwDs to enable them to avail benefits of various government schemes.

LG Mathur stressed the need to set up a Rehabilitation Centre/De-addiction Centre in Ladakh to control drug abuse.

He requested a training programme by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to sensitize and inform the people and the NGOs about various schemes/programmes and provisions under the Ministry.

Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment suggested that UDID cards may be distributed to PwDs and a camp may be organised to understand the problems and demands of PwDs. He stated that training centres may be started to provide skill training and employment opportunities to PwDs.
