LG Mathur meets Minister of Minority Affairs, discusses issues related to Ladakh

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur met Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in New Delhi on May 4.

LG Mathur briefed about proposals approved by the Ministry for various projects, viz. construction of dzings (water reservoirs), examination centres in Leh and Kargil and Model Anganwadi centres, etc.

He also discussed setting up three craft villages in Likir, Chilling and Turtuk villages of Ladakh and providing training to the artisans/craftsmen under the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana scheme. He informed that the National Institute of Design (NID) and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) have been engaged to facilitate training and assistance in project preparation.

Minister of Minority Affairs stressed the need to develop craft villages with modern facilities. He stated that Sanskritik Sadbhav Mandap (multi-purpose community centre) may be set up in Ladakh under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karykram (PMJVK) for its utilisation for various socio-economic-cultural activities, etc.
