LG Kavinder Gupta pays tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Good Governance Day Recalls Vajpayee’s visionary leadership marked by nation-building and people-centric governance
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary, observed as Good Governance Day, at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on December 25.
Addressing officers and staff, the Lieutenant Governor recalled Vajpayee’s visionary leadership, stating that his tenure will always be remembered for nation-building, transparent governance, and people-centric policies.
Kavinder Gupta shared personal memories of meeting Atal Bihari Vajpayee on several occasions, particularly during the Emergency period, when Vajpayee ji endured nearly a year of incarceration. He highlighted Vajpayee’s magnetic charisma, which drew large audiences eager to listen to his speeches, and praised his timeless poetry that continues to inspire generations.
Observing that Vajpayee’s birth anniversary coincides with Good Governance Day, the Lieutenant Governor noted that his Prime Ministerial tenure is remembered for initiating several groundbreaking reforms. He said the day serves as a reminder of Vajpayee’s firm belief in accountable administration and last-mile delivery of development—principles that continue to guide governance in Ladakh.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the UT Administration is committed to ensuring that government schemes and development initiatives reach remote and border villages. Highlighting ongoing governance reforms, he stressed the importance of transparency, digital governance, and efficient service delivery, adding that initiatives such as e-office and technology-driven administration are strengthening public service systems in Ladakh.
Kavinder Gupta reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to inclusive development, youth empowerment, preservation of cultural heritage, and the strengthening of public welfare systems across the Union Territory.
