Legal services day marked by DLSA Leh to promote access to Justice
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Leh, observed Legal Services Day at the Community Hall, Saboo, on November 8. The event was attended by Advocate Phuntsog Stobgyal, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), and local residents.
Advocate Phuntsog Stobgyal highlighted key provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and explained the organizational structure of legal services institutions at the State, District, and Taluka levels.
Addressing the gathering, he underscored the importance of free legal aid and legal awareness in strengthening the justice delivery system. He elaborated on how DLSA continues to provide assistance to individuals unable to afford legal representation through various outreach initiatives.
He also emphasized the need for continuous community engagement and collaboration among lawyers, paralegal volunteers, and institutions to ensure access to justice for all.
In his remarks, Advocate Stobgyal reflected on the significance of Legal Services Day, tracing its origins to the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act. He reiterated DLSA’s commitment to building legal awareness at the grassroots level.
The villagers expressed their gratitude to DLSA Leh for organizing the awareness program and appreciated the efforts to make legal knowledge more accessible to the community.
