Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, held an extensive meeting with Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk and a visiting delegation to explore long-term educational collaboration with the WIPRO Foundation’s Education Division and the Navikru Eco Foundation on June 20. The dialogue focused on advancing academic excellence and community development in Ladakh, moving beyond conventional environmental education.

The delegation comprised Avinash Kumar, Head of Education, WIPRO Foundation; Ashish Bipin Shah, Consultant, WIPRO Foundation; Preeti Chauhan, Founder and Managing Director, Navikru Eco Foundation; and Anoop George, spokesperson for Azim Premji University.

A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion on finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Education Department and Navikru Eco Foundation, aimed at introducing integrated and locally relevant educational initiatives across the region.

Welcoming the initiative, CEC Tashi Gyalson emphasized the importance of shifting from short-term, theme-based interventions to sustainable, community-rooted educational transformation. He urged the WIPRO Foundation to consider launching scholarship programs for Ladakhi students to access premier schools, colleges, and universities across India.
Echoing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Ladakh, the CEC underscored the need for education systems that empower youth locally, especially in remote and border areas. He advocated for the creation of institutions that combine academic excellence with deep cultural and geographical relevance, enabling students to thrive without being uprooted from their communities.

Drawing inspiration from innovative models such as the Naropa Fellowship, which fosters grassroots leadership and entrepreneurship, the CEC encouraged WIPRO Foundation and its partners to invest in building a similar ecosystem in Ladakh—centered on empowerment, innovation, and sustainability.

The CEC concluded by assuring full support from LAHDC Leh, provided the proposed initiatives are dedicated to delivering meaningful, localized, and lasting impact for Ladakhi communities.
