Ladakh to mark centenary birth anniversary of Bakula Rinpoche in May, a grand way

To celebrate the Centenary birth anniversary of Padma Bushan 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, a meeting pertaining to its discussion was held on April 12 at DC Conference Hall, Leh. 

The suggestion was welcomed widely to confirm the planning of the yearlong event. It was decided that the birth centenary celebration of Rinpoche should not be confined to Ladakh only but must be celebrated at State, National and International levels to emphasize the importance of his contributions to the Ladakh as a whole.

Dr. Sonam Dawa, CEC directed Joint Director Education Tashi Dolma to chalk out a year log calendar for all the schools of Leh district to organize events like skits and painting competition related with the life and contribution of Bakula Rinpoche.

A decision was taken to organize a function at Leh Polo Ground. It was also consented to exhibit a digital photo exhibition in Indoor Stadium and a screening of short movies on the life of Rinpoche at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra Leh.

The meeting decided to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi as chief guest on May 19 to inaugurate the year-long centenary celebration. If PM could not be convinced for the program, the Vice President of India, Mohammad Hamid Ansari followed by Governor J&K State, N. N Vohra will be invited as chief guest. 

Dr. Dawa also directed Tashi Chombel Xen PWD to complete the ongoing road construction works by May 19.

Dr. Dawa, CEC also assured to take up the demand to declare November 4 (Nirvana of Rinpoche) as a state holiday strongly with the State govt. 

EC Works Dorjey Motup, EC Animal & Sheep Husbandry Mumtaz Hussain, District level officers headed by D.C Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G, monks of Spituk Monastery headed by Geshe Konchok Wangdus and many other were present during the meeting.
