Ladakh to get 36 new helipads

A total of 36 new Helipads construction project in Ladakh is undertaken by UT administration to connect remote areas of Leh and Kargil district.

Lieutenant Governor, Radha Krishna Mathur convened a review meeting regarding the functioning of Civil Aviation Department Ladakh on December 16.

Commissioner/ Secretary, Civil Aviation, Ladakh, Rigzin Sampheal informed about the construction of 36 New Helipads. He said that all the 36 New Helipad projects would be completed before April 2021.

The prepared Helipads would not only connect the 36 remote locations of Ladakh to the District headquarters but would also help in bringing them on the Tourism Map during winters.

In Leh district, the helipads are being constructed at Demjok, Hanley, Kharnak, Korzok, Chumur, Tangtse, Chushul, Shayok, Skyumpata, Dipling, Nyeraks, Kanji, Markha, Panamik, Waris, Largyab, Agyam, Diskit, and Sumoor. While in Kargil district the helipads are being constructed at Kurbathang, Batalik, Sapi, Barsoo, Cheycheysna, Shephard Nala (Parkachik), Rangdum, Tangole, Padum, Lungnak, Zangla, Tongri, Drass, Minamarg, Chiktan HQ, Namkila, and Hinaskote.
